This formation uses the same verb before and after だけ to express doing an action to the fullest extent, as much as one can, or as much as one wants.

Potential Verb + だけ + Verb

Uses the potential form of a verb before だけ to express doing an action as much as one is capable of doing.

Run as much as one can

Dictionary Form Verb + だけ + Verb

Uses the dictionary form of a volitional verb before だけ to express doing an action as much as one desires.

Buy as much as one wants

Non-volitional Intransitive Verb + だけ + Verb

Note

The verb before だけ must always be in the informal, nonpast form (dictionary or potential form). The verb before and after だけ must be the same exact verb. This pattern emphasizes reaching the limit of capability, desire, or natural progression.
