Grammar Point

A Keyphrase should be a short phrase that brings to mind and helps to remember the information on this frame.
であれ

even if

Noun + であれ

This grammar point is used to indicate that even if a certain condition exists, the result or the speaker's attitude remains the same. It is a formal expression often used to emphasize that something is true regardless of the noun or noun phrase that precedes it.

The noun is followed directly by であれ to create a concessive clause meaning 'even if' or 'no matter what'.

Even if it is a small mistake, it is important to fix it.

Even if you are a child, you must follow the rules.

Whether it is a lie or the truth, I want to know.

Note

であれ is more formal and literary than expressions like でも or であっても. It is often used in writing or formal speeches. When used twice in a sentence (AであれBであれ), it means 'whether it be A or B'.
