Grammar Point

A Keyphrase should be a short phrase that brings to mind and helps to remember the information on this frame.
以来いらい

since, henceforth

Time-related Noun + 以来

以来 is used to indicate that a certain state or action has continued without change from a specific point in time until the present.

Noun + 以来

When attached directly to a noun representing a point in time or an event, it marks the starting point of a continuous state.

I have been busy since last month.

It has not rained since Monday.

Note

以来 is more formal than てから. It is typically used for periods that span a significant amount of time. It cannot be used for very recent or trivial starting points unless the situation has remained constant since then.

Verb て form + 以来

When used with a verb, 以来 follows the て form to indicate that since that action occurred, a certain state has persisted.

The て form of the verb combined with 以来 specifies the action that triggered the current ongoing state.

I haven't seen him since I entered this school.

He has been living alone since he came to Japan.

Note

The clause following 以来 usually describes a state that continues (often using the ~ている form or a negative verb) rather than a single one-time action.
