Grammar Point

A Keyphrase should be a short phrase that brings to mind and helps to remember the information on this frame.
自体じたい

itself

in itself, the thing itself, this itself, for its own sake, per se

Noun + 自体

The dependent noun 自体 is used immediately after a noun to emphasize that specific noun. It highlights the thing or person in and of itself, often focusing on its inherent nature or essence rather than external factors.

When attached to a noun, it emphasizes the inherent quality of that noun, often used with particles like は or が.

The plan itself is good.

The work itself is not difficult.

The food itself was delicious.

Note

自体 is often used to separate the core essence of something from its surroundings or consequences. For example, it can distinguish a plan itself from the way the plan is carried out. While similar to 'itself' in English, it is more formal than using words like 'そのもの'.
