Grammar Point

欲しいほしい

wanting (to have), desiring, wishing for

Noun + が + 欲しい

Used to express the speaker's desire for a specific object or thing. The object of desire is typically marked with the particle が.

The word 欲しい functions as an い-adjective. Therefore, it conjugates like one (e.g., 欲しくない for negative, 欲しかった for past tense).

I want a new car.

I want some time.

I don't want money.

Note

In casual conversation, the particle が is sometimes replaced by を, but が is the standard and most common particle used with 欲しい. This grammar point is used for the speaker's own desires. To talk about what someone else wants, different expressions like ほしがっている are used.
